Elegant Themes HandHeld Plugin Review

by Last Updated: Oct 19, 2023Blog, Divi theme

UPDATE: HandHeld is a legacy product of Elegant Themes, but you can still download it from your Elegant Themes account (in the Legacy Product Downloads section).

If you want to make your website to be mobile friendly and don’t want to change its desktop look, the Elegant Themes HandHeld plugin can be a great solution for you. With the Google’s Mobilegeddon update or Google’s plans to release its mobile first index, you should definitely not get left behind.

In this article, I will briefly review the Handheld plugin from Elegant Themes. However, I’d like to say that I would personally prefer to rebuild my website completely with the Divi theme (you get access to this great theme with the Handheld plugin as well), because this theme is 100% responsive. That means that your website will be mobile-friendly automatically. I’m a WordPress designer and for most of my projects all I need is a copy of the Divi theme. I can also help you to redesign your website with Divi, just contact me for more details. And you can also check my other article on how to make a website mobile friendly.

Now, let’s get back to the review of the HandHeld plugin, if you still prefer to use it as an option. The main features of the plugin include a special blog layout, blog display and threaded comments, what makes your website look uncluttered on mobile devices as well. It works fine on both Android and iOS phones and is optimized for mobile experience. The design adjusts itself when the screen changes to a landscape orientation, too.

Another great feature of this plugin is that you can choose any color for your website in the plugin’s option page. So this way you can easily make it match your website’s main color theme. Below you can also see a screenshot of the Handheld plugin in action on my Android mobile phone:

If you want to start using the HandHeld plugin (or the Divi theme, too), you will need to purchase a membership with Elegant Themes. You can buy the Yearly Access license which costs $89 yearly. Or, you can purchase the Lifetime Access license which is a $249 one time payment. It may seem too much for just one plugin, but you are not buying just a plugin. You will get access to all 87 beautiful ET themes (including the top 2 great multi purpose themes Divi and Extra) and premium plugins Bloom and Monarch. So eventually I would say it is a great deal. I bought myself the Lifetime Access plan 4 years ago and till now have been enjoying the Divi theme and all its updates.
