Divi vs Elementor – Comparison
Theme or Plugin?
Firstly, I’d like to make this clear to you: Elementor is a WordPress plugin, while Divi is both a plugin and a theme. What does it mean for you? Well, you can use Elementor with any WordPress theme. And as for Divi, you don’t even need a theme, as the builder is part of the theme (the Divi theme). However, you can use the Divi Builder plugin with any other WordPress theme (with an Elegant Themes license you automatically get access to the Divi Builder plugin), as well. So, I would say there is no much difference in this.
Both, Elementor and Divi come with their advanced visual builders and are drag and drop. You can see a preview of both of them below:
Divi also offers a backend builder. Elementor misses this feature.
Divi currently comes with the following modules:
Elementor comes with these:
Both, Divi and Elementor come with an enough number of premade layouts. The Elegant Themes team even releases new free layouts on their blog regularly. And there is also a pretty large Divi theme community that creates both, free and premium Divi child themes. They release many Divi extensions like premium Divi plugins, too. Elementor doesn’t have such a big community supporting it.
Yes, Elementor is free, but only its basic version. If you want the premium features (e.g. CTA button, contact form, subscription form or search widget), you will have to pay either way.
Also, if you are a web designer and need a page builder that you will be using to build many websites, Divi is a more affordable solution. For a one-time payment of $249 you get its unlimited use with lifetime updates and support, while with Elementor, to get updates & support every year, you will have to pay $199 yearly (for 25 websites).
For me, the clear winner is Divi. I find its framework more intuitive. I also like its design more than Elementor’s. Here you can check 7 nice examples of websites created with Divi. I have tried to pick the most beautiful ones. I really like these 7 websites, they are my favorite Divi examples. Even this blog is built with Divi.
And if you would like to see a website built with Elementor, you can check out my blog about Elementor that I started recently. I have built it with Elementor and I’m going to be publishing some WordPress tutorials on it.
WordPress expert. Divi user since 2014. I blog about WordPress and Divi, my favorite WordPress theme. When I’m not working with WordPress or writing an article for this blog, I’m probably learning Italian. You can read more about me here.
