Divi vs Elementor Pro: Which one is better for WordPress?

by Last Updated: Jan 5, 2023Blog, Divi theme

When it comes to building a WordPress website, there are numerous plugins that you can use to design your platform. Divi and Elementor Pro are two of the most popular among them. This website (divitheme.net) is built with Divi (I personally use Divi).

Both builders have hundreds of useful features, functions, themes, and tools. These you can freely use to create the web by simply dragging elements and adding widgets.

All this allows you to custom design your website and create it to your liking. Although both web builders are excellent options, it is common to have doubts when deciding which one to use.

That is why I will take this opportunity to explain everything you need to know about Divi and Elementor Pro to create your WordPress pages.

What is the best WordPress builder?

Divi and Elementor Pro are the highest rated builders in all of WordPress. That is why determining which of the two is superior is a complex task. This will depend on your expectations when designing your website and the use you will give to this tool.

Both Divi and Elementor Pro are distinguished by the amount of modules they have. All these elements will allow you to have a vast variety of options to structure the platform.

However, one of the most notable differences between these web builders is that Divi is a theme, while Elementor is a plugin. This means that, although both have the same dynamics, Elementor Pro does not have a default theme.

However, both can work perfectly with other WordPress themes and continue to have similar features.

After reading this you are still wondering:

Which one is better – Divi or Elementor Pro?

To determine which web builder is the best for you, it is essential to know each of them in detail. Because of this, I have prepared a brief, but very useful description of both of them separately.

Divi: Overview

Divi is a web builder with a simple generator interface. It consists of drag & drop elements without the need to alter the software code. It has a fresh and intuitive platform, which allows you to use it very easily.

I have always liked Divi, in particular its simplicity. In fact, it is the builder that I used for this platform and which I use in most cases.

Divi Visual Builder

I find it more interactive. Because all the settings are seen on the page itself, and not in a sidebar as in Elementor Pro.

Another aspect to highlight is that in Divi you have access to more than 800 unique designs and website templates. Its library is very diverse, especially when compared to the options that Elementor Pro has to offer.

Divi Modules

Divi Pros

  • Intuitive use ideal for design; it is quick and easy to understand and master the functions provided by the builder, you choose the modules to include and place them where you want.
  • More than 300 predesigned templates that you can customize to your liking. You can find from corporate templates to more dynamic ones that will serve as a base to create your site.
  • You can edit divider sizes and spacing freely, either by zooming in and out with the mouse or by adding specific heights and spacing in the panel.
  • Responsive possibility: the web pages you design can adapt to each device, choose the size of text, image, spacing and so on. You can easily control this in the configuration, without modifying or knowing about CSS.
  • Tag code integration in the head of your website without having to do it manually but adding it easily with the corresponding option of the theme.
  • Save your page: You can create unlimited pages with Divi and each one will be saved in your directory in editable formats in case you need to layout again.

Divi Cons

  • It does not support SVG format, which is an image format for vector graphics. This is very useful to move the template without altering its resolution, but Divi does not allow it.
  • Limitations to edit the header and footer; because of that you can’t customize the top and bottom of your website and some similarities with other websites are kept.
  • Gallery: It also has several limitations for its structuring. However, you can modify it if you know about CSS, or you can add gallery plugins.
  • Shortcodes: The Divi platform technically works based on shortcodes. These allow you to insert functions and elements without having to submit yourself to programming.
  • Layout from scratch: Because of the above, in case you change the theme of your website, all the elements will be reduced to unreadable shortcodes that will make you lose the content and design of the website. So, you must layout from scratch.
  • No free version available, you can try their builder without any problem, but the only way to obtain their services is by paying for their respective license.

Elementor Pro: Overview

Elementor Pro is a WordPress website builder plugin that allows you to design without the need to know about programming. It has a wide variety of templates to give you some ideas to design and structure the platform in case you need it.

Elementor Pro Page Builder

The particularity of Elementor Pro is that it makes it easy for you to edit all the elements and functions of the page you are creating. Including the colors of the header, footer, borders, etc. with drag and drop, without the need to change a single line of code.

Elementor Modules

Elementor Pro is very famous because it can be used with any theme. For example, Astra, GeneratePress, OceanWP, KadenceWP, Sydney and Neve. Just like Divi, Elementor has layout packages that will be useful for you to create unique and dynamic content.

Elementor Pros

  • Create your website from a blank canvas: When building a website with Elementor, you can find a whole toolbar on the side. There, you will find all the elements that you must add to an empty background to create your page from scratch. Thanks to this, the customization of your site is very simple, convenient, and fast.
  • Free version: This builder has some limited functions in its free version. However, there are certain types of pages for which this is more than enough. This way, you can get a fabulous website for free, without paying anything.
  • Templates and customization: It has a wide variety of templates that you can choose complete or fractional. You can combine some of them and thus design a unique model.
  • Versatility: You can change absolutely all elements and adapt them to suit your convenience. This includes everything from the header to the content and footer.
  • Responsive preview: You can make your designs and then preview your version on different devices such as smartphones, tablets, among others. This way, you can make sure that your platform looks good regardless of the device through which it is accessed.
  • Easy to use: Elementor Pro features a simple and convenient platform. To use it you only have to drag and drop the elements you want to add to your page and then adjust the size, color, or shape.

Elementor Cons

Elementor Pro also has some unfavorable features, some of them are:

  • JavaScript loading: You have JavaScript loading and heavy styles in the header. This can generate negative effects for SEO positioning due to the loading time of the site.
  • Limited Responsive: Elementor’s responsive model cannot be configured to certain resolutions. Which can generate that the platform does not look properly on some devices.
  • Not compatible with all WordPress themes: While this builder is often compatible with several popular themes, it is not compatible with all of them. It even has few configuration options for menus.
  • Icon fonts: This is provided by the builder itself. This makes the weight of the web larger and unnecessary, which affects its response speed.

Divi vs. Elementor: Price

Now that you know some of the advantages and disadvantages of Divi and Elementor Pro, it’s time to talk about a very important factor: Price.

Divi Pricing

I will start with Divi, and I must tell you that it has a great advantage in this section. Because it has a Yearly Access Plan de $89 (1 year) that gives you access to features such as:

  • Unlimited website usage
  • One year updates
  • One year support

You can also select the Lifetime Access Plan, where one-time payment of $249 will allow you to get the same features for life.

Now, in the case of Elementor Pro, you will find that it has different plans:

Elementor Pricing 2023

  • Essential Plan: It cost $59 per year. It offers professional website activation and other features.
  • Advanced Plan: It costs $99 for the first year and will allow you to activate up to 3 websites.
  • Expert Plan: It costs $199 per year. You will be able to activate up to 25 websites with it.
  • Agency Plan: The subscription is $399 and allows the activation of 1000 websites.

If you want to know more details about the features included in each of the Elementor Pro plans and prices, you can find another article about it here.

So, which one is better?

To determine which is the best between Divi and Elementor Pro, you must consider the utility that each one will give to the builder. As well as the benefits that each one provides.

For example, in my case as a Professional Web Designer, paying $249 one time for a lifetime license of Divi is highly convenient. The amount of websites I can create with this tool is unlimited.
In particular, I have managed to design around 50 Divi pages, as I have personal projects and design clients on a constant basis.

Now, if you are someone who just needs to design your own website Elementor Pro may be more convenient. Especially if you buy a plan like Elementor Cloud Website, which additionally provides you with the hosting to host your website for as low as $99.

In conclusion, in this Elementor vs Divi comparison we must highlight the wide variety of advantages that each one has. In addition, it is important to assess the convenience of the services offered by each builder.

Elementor Pro is a much more appropriate builder to start creating websites. It also has a free version, which can be useful if your site does not require a lot of requirements.

Divi on the other hand, is more appropriate if you plan on getting into web design. Although it can be a bit more complex at the beginning, you can master it quickly if you are dedicated to it. Add to all this that it can be more economical and fit your design ideas very well.

In case you choose Divi, you can access the platform by using my discount link. This will allow you to get the plan you need, in a much more affordable way.

Anyway, I hope this comparison will help you decide which web builder to use and start designing your pages like a pro.
