5 Best AI Alt Text Generator WordPress Plugins

If you are looking for the best AI image alt text generator WordPress plugin for your website, this article might help you. I have listed the 5 top alternative text generators for WordPress in it. Each one of the mentioned plugins below will do an impressive job to optimize your image SEO.

Why Alt Text is Important for WordPress Images

Having descriptive alt text on your WordPress media library images can ensure proper SEO strength and a good accessibility score for your website. Solid SEO structure can bring you free organic traffic from search engines like Google, Bing, or even LLM models like, for example, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Claude. And it is also important to be compliant with accessibility regulations, like, for example, the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) or the EAA (European Accessibility Act). It can help screen readers to better understand your website’s content.

How do these Plugins Work

All of these plugins use the artificial intelligence to automatically generate the alt text for your images. Most of them are connected with the ChatGPT API (or they may use a different AI model too) and use it to generate the image metadata for your images. It is not needed to enter your own ChatGPT API key, as this is already integrated within the particular plugin’s backend. The images are, however, sent to the OpenAI API (or a different LLM service) for processing, and there the alt text is generated. The images may also be sent first to the plugin owner’s server and may be resized too. However, just after the alt text is generated, the image gets removed instantly.
